EVE Asset Manager 1.6.3 Released

February 14th, 2010

Another version is up on the wiki page. It fixes a silly CSV export bug and adds a few minor UI improvements. I will be moving on to some fun new features for the next version that I hope will turn into a solid foundation for improving and expanding the program in the future. I always enjoy hearing from users, so keep the feedback e-mails coming!

EVE Asset Manager 1.6.2 Released

January 11th, 2010

Just a quick note to say a new version is up. It offers improved pricing based on a 30-day aggregate of EVE-Central and EVE Metrics data, an option to choose which region’s prices you see, and some important bug fixes. Grab it at the usual place.

Fixes Are Coming

January 5th, 2010

To those of you who have tried 1.6.0, thank you. Also, thank you to that one person who donated motivation isk already! I’m already mostly finished a minor revision that will fix a few problems you all have reported.

  • Loading a saved search sets all boolean operators to “And”
  • Prices (possibly other numbers?) are completely screwy for some localized versions of Windows (e.g. most of Europe)
  • Pricing data is kind of lame in general — I think you will like my second stab at this a lot better

I’ve heard several good ideas for new features, too, and a few other things are knocking around in my head. Please keep the feedback coming by e-mail (wjrogers at gmail).

EVE Asset Manager 1.6.0 Released

January 3rd, 2010

Better late than never, eh?

This is mostly a “fix it up so it works right and it’s easier to update the EVE data dump” release, but there are two important new features. First, it now supports market pricing from EVE Central for all items, not just materials. I’m open to feedback about this feature. I’d definitely like to hear which price you’d prefer to use to price an item (mean, median, sell orders, buy orders, etc.). Second, you can specify an API proxy to make it easier to use this program on multiple computers or alongside other programs that use the assets API.

As always, I hope someone finds this useful, and you can reach me most reliably by e-mail. Get downloading!

I’m back…

March 13th, 2009

…and yes, I will update EVE Asset Manager for the new EVE “Apocrypha” expansion. Thank you, everyone, for all your continuing interest in this project and all the e-mails I have received over the past year (!!!).

EVE Asset Manager 1.5.0 Released

February 5th, 2008

It’s a few days behind schedule, but EVE Asset Manager 1.5.0 is finally ready. In the usual way of things, what was supposed to be a minor fix release ended up being a huge amount of work that involved many changes to the code. Theoretically, this version should be more robust. It also features a couple new reports, exporting to CSV, and several other nice interface tweaks. Go! Download it!

EVE Asset Manager, a screenshot

February 1st, 2008

Here’s a screenshot that should give you an idea of what EVE Asset Manager looks like. Sorry it’s taken me so long to post it, I know I hate it when there are no screenshots of software I’m considering trying. For those of you wondering when the next version is coming out, the answer is probably tomorrow. I’m about to find myself some food, then I’m going to crank out a couple more features.

EVE Asset Manager 1.4.2 Released

January 29th, 2008

I’ve posted a new version of EVE Asset Manager, version 1.4.2. This version adds two major features—saved queries and reports—and fixes several bugs, including the pesky grid performance problem. There will be another minor version soon that adds a few things that are still missing (renaming/deleting saved searches, CSV export). After that I think I will take a break and catch up on my sleep!

Please, download the new version and give it a try. I’m proud of how it’s turning out.

Need EVE Asset Manager Testers

January 19th, 2008

I’ve written a program that will fetch your assets from the EVE API and let you search them locally. This is much better than the in-game assets interface because it shows everything you own, instead of only things in your top-level hangars.

Could always use people to test it. Have a look on the EVE Asset Manager page.

First Post

I hate writing these “oh hey, it’s a blog, everyone look!” posts, but something has got to go here to fill in all the blank space, so here I am. Today, I finally got off my lazy ass and used the free domain registration that came with my DreamHost account. It’s only been sitting around for about 13 months, that’s pretty good turnaround for me. So welcome to heavyduck.com. May your stay be… interesting.

WordPress seems like a solid enough hosting platform. Now to figure out how to get Textile up in here.
